About
I began life with a math and science backgound and a lifetime fascination with electricity and magnetism. In the seventies I read every copy of Mother Earth News that I could get my hands on. One article in particular resonated with me. It was about a house built in the NC mountains that was designed to maximize passive solar energy. It had a great southern exposure with multiple glass layers, berming, a trellis to allow vines to block the sun’s rays in the summer and a small wood stove in the basement as backup. It used the concept of “gravity heat”, aka convection to take advantage of warm air rising. I was impressed.
I have already been involved in a Evehicle project, wind generator and passive solar. This has forced me to dig deeper into the nuts and bolts of practical energy, latest technology and experimentation. This information will be shared here along with the collective knowledge of others.
I am currently evaluating a small passive solar project (waiting for more leaves to fall) and experimenting on and planning for a larger passive solar project. This project also integrates electricity from a wind generator project. Inverter and grid tie inverter technology is changing rapidly. My findings on inverters will be forthcoming.
